Plausibility: A Verbal Cue to Veracity worth Examining?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Truth tellers sound more plausible than lie tellers. Plausibility ratings do not require much time or cognitive resources, but a disadvantage is that it measured subjectively on Likert scales. The aim of the current paper was to understand if plausibility can be predicted by three other verbal veracity cues objectively counting their frequency occurrence: details, complications, and verifiable sources. If these objective could predict plausibility, observers instructed pay attention them when judging which would make somewhat objective. We therefore re-analysed five existing datasets; all included details complications two also sources as dependent variables. positively correlated with tested cues, mostly sources, explaining average almost 40% variance. showed larger effect sizes in distinguishing truth from perhaps because cue consists multiple components (complications sources). Research has shown strongest relationship typically consisted components.

The canonical IT security properties are geared towards infrastructure security. The task of an infrastructure security service is completed once data has been delivered to the application. When false data is submitted to the infrastructure, false data will be delivered securely. To secure an application, one thus may have to go beyond securing the infrastructure and in addition provide mechani...
متن کاملEating behavior in response to food-cue exposure: examining the cue-reactivity and counteractive-control models.
Many studies have demonstrated that those high in weight-related concerns eat more after food-cue exposure, which is consistent with predictions of the cue-reactivity model. However, the counteractive-control model predicts that exposure to fattening foods activates dieting-related goals and behavior in weight-concerned individuals. Although these models seem incongruous, the authors hypothesiz...

To understand expertise and expertise development, interactions between knowledge, cognitive processing and task characteristics must be examined in people at different levels of training, experience, and performance. Interviewing is widely used in the initial exploration of domain expertise. Work and cognitive task analysis chart the knowledge, skills, and strategies experts employ to perform ...
